So this has been a weird month with the ol' budget, since I've bought and returned approx. one million things. I also started the month $56 in the hole, thanks to last month's shopping spree, so I'm going to try making my budget quarterly for a bit. This means that I would have $680 ($170 x 4) to spend over the course of four months. I wonder if this will help me to be accountable in light of monthly overages.
Yeahhhhh, we'll see how it goes :) In the meantime, here are November's purchases that I am for sure keeping:
- Merona Fair Isle sweater (Target): $20
- Chloe and Isabel Bouquet Rouge necklace: $6 (in exchange for the Medina amethyst stacking rings from last month)
- Transport tote (Madewell): $168 sale on sale for $89 (I've been eyeing this for awhile, so I was like wooo hooo!)
- Men's Lyndale Weekender (Target): $30 on sale for $15
- THE Merona plaid blanket scarf (Target): $17
- Xhiliration quilted skirt (Target): $18 on sale for $4
Not pictured:
- Citizens of Humanity skinnies (Buffalo Exchange): $35
- American Eagle sweatshirt: Free, thanks to a clothing swap at Plato's Closet
- Sweet Claire sweater (Buffalo Exchange): $21
- Glamglow BrightMud eye treatment mini: $4
- Enjoy Conditioning Spray: $12
Total: $223 - $33 (for old clothes sold at Plato's Closet) = $190
Left in the quarterly budget: $680 - $170 (September) - $226 (October) - $190 (November) = $94
Favorite purchase of the month: Citizens of Humanity jeans. They are so.freaking.soft. and a dark wash that goes with everything. *heart-eyes emoji* I've already worn them at least 8 times. Plus, I see that Citizens of Humanity jeans retail in the triple digits, so I think it was $35 well-spent. I actually wore them with the Sweet Claire sweater and Chloe and Isabel necklace to Thanksgiving dinner:
Least favorite purchase: Oh there are many to choose from among this month's fails, but I'm prob most disappointed by this Madewell tee. Madewell has become one of my new favorite stores, and everyone seems to love this tee, but it just hung on me like a sheet. Even on sale, it was more expensive than a Target tee, and those fit me better (and feel softer!). Major womp.
And a final comment: that.damn.Target.scarf. Initially spooked by the words "blanket scarf," I didn't have much interest in it until one of my real-life fashionista friends turned up wearing it. I then looked into it, without realizing that it was THE accessory for fall. It sold out in the half an hour I dawdled before ordering it online AND THEN it sold out of two nearby Targets where I had requested to pick it up in store! Son of a beech. Luckily, the scarf stopped playing hard to get the next day and appeared on the Target.com long enough for me to order it :) This is not, however, how I envisioned first wearing it:
