It's kind of hilarious and surreal that I, of all people, am writing about fashion and taking pictures of my outfits and posting them online. Like, what? I was never the fashionista growing up. I wore a Catholic school uniform for 12 years and always had a kilt of tasteful length! I didn't start wearing makeup until two years ago! My body was not something to dress up or show off--it was just the vehicle that got me to class, that got everything checked off my to-do lists. Yoga has helped me to inhabit my body again, so I'm having fun dressing it now, rather than just trying to hide it (and myself) and blend in.
Onto the capsule! It's actually been pretty interesting thus far, even though I don't wear polished and profesh outfits like Katie and Fran. Sadly, that's just not realistic for my job and lifestyle. I take 8 modes of public transportation a day, often in a polar vortex, to a job with no dress code. So as much as I love fashion, my primary concern in winter is WARMTH, and since it's so cold/icy/wintry mix-y, I've been wearing skinnies and snow boots (then changing into my ancient Uggs at work) pretty much every day, which is why the bottom half of my outfits are not really documented. I definitely need to branch out beyond my winter uniform of a sweater and skinnies, and I also need to incorporate more of my accessories, but there has already been a huge win since the capsule/shopping ban started: I have yet to buy any new clothes! *confetti horn emojis*
Oh, also, I really hope to take awesome outdoor DSLR pics soon, but with this weather, slapdash selfies will have to do. Done is better than perfect!! :)
(Can I use the term "off-duty," because I love it?) ->
- "Philly Famous" tee (so cute and soft, it spells out "Philadelphia" with assorted landmarks! I got it when I was really missing city life after moving back home last summer; Nice Things Handmade) (exact)
- Thrifted purple flannel (2012) (similar)
- Leggings (2013; H&M) (exact I think?)
- Faux ostrich crossbody (Dec. 2014 budget; Francesca's) (similar)
<- Definitely my most daring fashion choice. I liked it waaaay better on Anne from In Residence, but the feeling of wearing a blanket all day was pretty sweet!
- Slouchy open-knit sweater (2014; Buffalo Exchange) (similar)
- Sweet Claire sweater (Nov. 2014 budget; Buffalo Exchange) (similar)
Blue legging jeans (Sept. 2014 budget; Gap) (exact -- on sale!)
- Madden Girl boots (2011; Burlington) (similar)
- (Topo Designs backpack tote in the background!)
And a bonus super-fashionable pic of what I wore trampolining last Sunday (minus the slippers)! :D (SO.MUCH.FUN)
