So I did it! I successfully wore ONLY the contents of my closet as of January 31 for two months! Without buying (aside from in Chicago) any new clothes! That seriously seemed impossible two months ago, so I am quite proud of myself! *all of the confetti horns*
Here is the last batch of outfit pics, along with some random observations and links to anything I'm wearing that is still available online.
I learned that I am reeeeeally not good at changing up my jewelry. And if said pieces have sentimental meaning, forget it--I will wear them erreyday. This bow necklace (from the bf) was by far my most-worn, along with my smaller Francesca's watch (January budget), the lavender hamsa bracelet I made last December, and a pair of mismatched studs :)
I had hoped to be creative with my wardrobe when I started this capsule. As you can see, that did not exactly happen! The inability to buy new clothes did push me to reach for some tops I don't normally wear (and yet can't part with?), and also kept me from wearing the same super cozy cardigan every day at work (literally every.day.) like I did last winter. But having to deal with the cold/elements in my public transport trek to work every day makes me really reluctant to dress up and break from my (warm!) "uniform" of top, cardigan, jeans. Even the capsule couldn't help me there. Womp.
Number of tops worn that were not purchased in the last year: 28 over 59 days
Favorite outfit of the capsule: probably the one I wore on 2/27, as it breaks the most from my usual uniform! No sweater but instead a blazer plus statement necklace plus M83?! Well done.
Most-worn item of clothing: This green waterfall cardigan (from Target). It's light but warm and basically a wearable blanket. And it's a great color that my closet is seriously lacking otherwise. It was part of my January budget and made an appearance in 3/4 capsule recap posts along the way!
Those awesomely light and warm North Face booties come in second.
Target tees made for a great under-cardigan layering piece this winter, be they Tiffany blue (as above), oatmeal with gold print (as on 2/3 and 3/13), or blue-green print (as on 3/27).
Whoa, a braid?! I wish I had experimented more with different easy hairdos (aside from my favorite, "messy bun with headband").
Number of thrifted tops worn: 15
Number of tops worn multiple times: 18 over 59 days
Even though I didn't get too creative with my outfits, the capsule was a fun project to break up the winter doldrums (and boy, did I feel those!). But I'm glad it's over because that means we're that much closer to spring, and dresses, and bright colors, and WARMTH! Yay!
