Friday Favorites: Work from home edition

Happy Friday! I’ve been trying to come up with another type of fun post for Fridays, so that I’m not always limited to the NOTHING that is happening in my life right now. So, Friday Favorites! (Since I already link up with them anyway! 😂)

This week: A few of my favorite home office items! I’ve been working from home since our physical office closed last January (how freaking fortuitous), so I have fully overtaken part of our living room by now!

(FYI: I make a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.)

Okay, so the very aesthetically pleasing pic above is from the smaller desk in my bedroom that I mainly use for Zoom therapy. This is my actual work desk, in its tidiest form:

Desk Lamp

I’ve been searching for months for a bedroom lamp, so of course, I’ve found a desk lamp instead. I scored this cute iHome lamp for like $15-20 at Home Goods, and I’m very sorry to report that it apparently retails for SIXTY DOLLARS. Yeesh. If you can get it cheap enough, it’s a very nice little lamp. AND the base changes color, so you can give your office some sweet discotheque vibes! I’m partial to the sunny orangey-yellow color myself. ☀️

(By the way, my super cute moon planner is also from Home Goods! It’s by Fringe.)

Wrist Rests

I’ve had issues with my right wrist on and off since 2015, and they’ve apparently evolved into early stage carpal tunnel syndrome. YAY. (Well, my job is 8 hours of typing and mousing….) Normal wrist rests just weren’t cutting it anymore, so I picked up these bean bag-type guys because I could stack them together to create a wrist-and-forearm support. And OMG, they have been so helpful! My wrist doesn’t bother me while I’m working anymore! (I will say that I did start mousing on the other side around the time that I got these guys, so maybe both things are working together?)

Fun Mug

A fun mug with lots of pen options! What could be better? 🌈

Sadly, I can’t find this exact mug to link to it, but it’s from Five Below!

Not-So-Fake Fake Flowers

FLOWERS! They make everything better, even work! (Well…. they don’t hurt. 😂) I just love how they brighten up my space. They make me smile!

I’m not a big fan of silk flowers (since they so often look super fake), but these hydrangeas from Michael’s managed to meet my exacting standards. (And only partially because they’re purple!) I really love how they hang, which, to me, makes them more interesting than your average fake plant.

Michael’s also has EXCELLENT fake tulips that I (naturally) can’t find online, but you’ll know if you see them in-store because they’ll be the least fake-looking flowers in the whole area. The lavender tulips above are these tulips, and they are just everything I need and more, aesthetically.

But I’ve also heard good things about these fake tulips (that I can actually link to!) on Amazon.

Faux Footrest

Okay, and one hack. Necessity is the mother of invention, right?

If you do yoga at home, or for some other reason happen to have a foam yoga block lying around, that’s what I use as a foot rest. (If I don’t wear slippers at my desk, my feet juuuust don’t fully touch the ground.) A yoga block is great because it’s somewhat slip-resistant, so it won’t fly out from under you, but you can also easily kick it out of the way if you don’t need it at the moment. It doesn’t have to be fancy—a cheap one from Five Below or Target’s Dollar Spot will do. Just be mindful of thickness: get a thinner block if your feet almost touch the ground, and go thicker if you need to make up a lot of real estate.

Okay, now what awesome home office stuff have you guys found over this past crazy year?

Linking up with Andrea and Erika!
