Let’s see what brought the sparkle this week!
I knew that Pops had seen Queen back in the day (alone no less, because no one wanted to go with him! FOOLS!), but I didn’t recall ever seeing a ticket from that show in his collection of old ticket stubs. Well, as I sifted through them this weekend, I figured out why:
The name got ripped off! UGH! But he’d told me he’d seen them at the Erlanger Theater (with Kansas as an opening act no less, how hilar) and that “Killer Queen” (from Sheer Heart Attack) was their big song at the time, so I did a little detective work:
I’m so jealous that he got to see Queen in their true form, WAH! (Their last US tour with Freddie and my beloved John Deacon was in ‘82, and I was born in ‘86, sooo sad trombone for me.)
The CVS gods blessed me with a whopping NINE DOLLARS in Extra Bucks, so I picked up another NYX Powder Puff matte lipstick on Friday. I’d gotten “Squad Goals,” a v pretty pinky-nude, back in the winter, and found that the puff applicator makes it super easy to use (which is what I always need with make-up LOL). This time, I picked up a bolder shade: “Pop Quiz”!
After yoga on Sunday, I stopped by Home Goods for a few things to finish up organizing the ol’ boudoir. Here’s what I got:
On Wednesday, I got to see my beloved Timmi before she left for Ireland! We had a wild night of CVS and dinner, haha! (We each got NYX eyebrow pencils, so we are clearly living our best lives.) While in therapy last week, I had remembered that Timmi was going to be in town, and I literally yelled out, “WAIT TIMMI WILL BE HERE!!!” in the middle of sharing an unrelated thought—so get you someone you’re that excited about having in your life! And to prove her amazingness, LOOK WHAT SHE BROUGHT ME! At first I was like, “Aww, that’s pretty, it’s flowers!'“ But’s not just flowers—IT’S FLOWERS AND CATS!!!!!! Aka two of my favorite things!! HASHTAG BLESSED.
Lastly, here’s something that is not exactly sparkly… and something that I’ve been hesitant to talk about because a.) it’s not sparkly, not to mention possibly triggering and b.) I don’t want to make someone else’s experience all about me. But it also feels weird to keep consciously talking around it on here. So… here goes.
My dear friend Kristin is nearing the end of her journey with cancer. She posted this on Instagram this week (FYI: it’s not graphic or anything but could be triggering given the subject matter), and I was just like, “Look at this bad-ass.” Like, in a world of fake beauty and overly filtered/edited posts, she’s keeping it real—even in a stage of life that most people have a hard time acknowledging. Reading her powerful post made me feel like Eric’s dad in Sex Education, except “Maybe I am learning from my brave friend.” 💖💖💖
Hope you have a great weekend! xo
